Walkers

Walking every day is very good for all of us and the environment.

Walking :-

• Improves your general health and fitness levels.

• Helps you control your weight so is a perfect complement to a healthy diet.

By taking a brisk daily 30 minute walk you will be helping yourself to live longer. Your heart, lungs and bones will all benefit as well as your sense of wellbeing and quality of life.

It is one of the best ways of giving your whole body a good work out and as it is a low impact exercise it won’t put stress or strain on any part of you. Your muscles will start to tone and strengthen which will help you in your usual everyday activities.

• Walking one mile burns up to 100 calories.

• Walking two miles a day (35 minutes brisk walking), three times a week can help you lose about 1lb every three weeks.

• More walking could save £7billion off the national health bill (Countryside Agency 2002)

• Walking can be both relaxing and social

• Walking does not pollute and is good for the environment
